Artist’s History 

Faj is Dan O'Donnell. Early in life, Faj painted as a teenager and at classes at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh (1977 grad).

 

Faj's career has encompassed graphic design and web design, working for several large corporations. While working as a graphic designer, Faj didn’t paint at all. Then, after 40 years without painting, Faj was inspired and resumed his painting passion.

Faj's recent paintings started by using gouache. For a year, he painted many different subjects in gouache: landscapes, people and fantasy subjects. He switched to acrylic medium and tried a couple portraits in November 2020.  That’s when he decided that he was going to concentrate on portrait painting.

 

After about 55 “practice” portraits Faj decided to start taking commissions. In December 2021, he was engaged in his first 2 commissions and he continues painting portraits, 1 portrait every week or 2.
